HIV+ people who have never taken AIDS drugs, or have stopped taking them.

My name is Hannah.
I tested positive for HIV at age 22 in 2008, after an unfortunate sexual encounter with a man from Zimbabwe. He had a variety of STDs, which he kindly passed along to me. I fell extremely ill a few weeks after this encounter, which doctors attributed to HIV infection.
I was terrified, my family was devastated, my friends were shocked. Immediately I began searching the internet for resources and forums that would educate and support me as I figured out what my HIV diagnosis meant for me. I stumbled across a testimonial on Living Without HIV Drugs that mentioned Peter Duesberg’s “Inventing the AIDS Virus” as a good resource.
That book positively (heh heh, no pun intended!) blew my mind wide open. For all of you fellow HIV+ peeps who haven’t heard of it, GET IT. NOW.
I have never taken HIV drugs. I have never even been in for the standard testing that comes with an HIV diagnosis. Why? Not because I’m in denial, or because I’m scared, but because I do not want to be hounded by doctors who subscribe to the HIV=AIDS=DEATH paradigm. I don’t want to be forced to take the drugs.
After reading Peter Duesberg’s work, as well as research done by countless other scientists, I feel certain we, the public, have been duped. This is not the fault of the doctors who prescribe us medication. I believe most of them are simply acting on what they have been taught, rather than digging into the research to double check everything they learn in med school. That is to be expected. Nope…this major blunder and ongoing deceit is the fault of the first people to announce that HIV was the probable cause of AIDS in a press conference, before scientific documentation had been released and cross-examined by the scientific community. It became a media sensation, and was repeated as fact thereafter. Robert Gallo was made a wealthy man for his “discovery”, and drug companies were able to jump on this new HIV to make billions. It is actually quite disgusting to think about.
The more I think about it, the more I see how huge of a challenge it will be to reverse this issue and shed light on the truth. It is so much easier to believe that there is one cause for the syndrome marked as “AIDS”, instead of a laundry list of factors. It is so much easier to send in truck loads of drugs to Africa, instead of tackling the real culprit: poverty, lack of sufficient nutrition, lack of clean water. This leads to major immune suppression, dysentery, wasting… in short, AIDS. And in the prosperous United States? Over-work, stress, burning the candle at both ends, recreational drugs, lack of exercise, eating unhealthy food… this all leads to immune suppression. If we don’t take care of our bodies and minds, we are all susceptible to falling extremely ill and presenting with AIDS-like symptoms. Heck, the psychological terror of learning you are HIV positive and therefor doomed is enough to kill a person, or at least make them extremely sick.
Just like everyone else, I sometimes get sick when I am stressed out. Or when I continually don’t get enough sleep. This has nothing to do with being HIV positive, this is simply part of being human. We have to take care of ourselves. If nothing else, that is what my HIV diagnosis has reminded me. Respect this body, because it is not invincible.
So here I am, nearly 7 years in without any drugs, and I am living just like any other person. I get colds sometimes, I get the flu, and I heal. In fact, I tend to get over the common cold faster than most people I know. Most doctors would find that very odd.
Stay strong, and don’t be afraid to speak out. I intend to change the world’s misguided views on HIV and AIDS, whatever it takes, and hopefully with your help!

Call to Action

I am a photographer in Seattle, WA, and I am starting a portrait project to get our ‘HIV+ without drugs’ faces and stories out into the world. Having these support forums is wonderful, but the only people who see them are the people who already feel similarly about this issue. I want more people to see our faces and hear our stories, because I want more people to openly question this issue so we can start solving the real problem. I am sick of HIV/AIDS dissidents being shunned by the AIDS profit engine. I am sick of those who speak out against the HIV=AIDS=DEATH dogma being labeled “perpetrators of death”. There needs to be an ongoing open conversation about this amongst the general public, which is what I intend to help manifest.
Now I am asking you to be part of my project, to tell your story, to show your face proudly to the world. I do not ask this lightly; I know it is a scary undertaking to be part of a movement like this. But I believe in it with all my heart, and I need your help.
If you would like to join me, please e-mail [email protected]. I will have to start with people who are closer to Seattle, but I want to hear from all of you. I will also be In New York City the first week in December, so if there is anyone there who wants to participate, let’s meet.
